I landed in Manchester (UK) last night, and I must say that it is truly good to be back. Although it was nice meeting family and eating a variety of food, there is nothing like being back at university. When I landed at Heathrow Airport (London), I was sleep deprived thanks to an annoying and loud child who was seated near me. A lady on the plane unfortunately had a siezure during the flight, so our departure was delayed. The passengers of the Virgin Atlantic aeroplane were made to wait with their seat belts on while medics checked on the lady. By the time I got out of the plane, I had only 40 minutes left to catch my connecting flight which was at another terminal. I ran for a mile and then caught the inter-terminal bus service to reach my destination terminal. Once I reached there, I quickly got my boarding pass and boarded the British Midlands plane. That flight was over before I knew it, the duration of which wasn't more than an hour maximum and I enjoyed watching the cities of England all lit up from high above. When we landed at Manchester Airport, I collected my baggage and took a train from the airport to Piccadilly station, and then a taxi back to Grosvenor Place. I got back in my room and was pleasantly surprised to find out that my flatmate Stephen had cleaned my room for me. I was extremely knackered at this point, but was also starving and knew that I wouldn't survive a night without food - so I went out and got myself a 'spicy chicken and green pepper' pizza from Popolinos (a take-away pizza place accross the street). I ate the pizza, drank some coke and flopped on the bed.
I woke up around 10 AM this morning when my mate from upstairs, Manan, rang me asking about ASDA shopping. I went along since I was dead empty on groceries and bought tons of food and drinks, stressing on a lot of home cooking and healthy eating. We later saw a new movie at 4:30 PM today titled 'The Downfall', based on Adolf Hitler's last couple of weeks before end of the second world war. It was an extremely heavy movie, but I am glad that I sat through it. I prefer to see the harsh reality of this world than to shield myself from it trying to protect myself from bad exposure. Nothing prepares someone for harsh circumstances in life better than first hand experience. Although movies aren't first hand experience, such detailed audiovisual knowledge is the next best thing. If you are a strong person, and wish to become stronger (mental strength, not physical), then stop hiding from gruesome/harsh/sad/bad/negative entities in this world. Rather, face them and learn from them.
